  Recent Construction Activities
 

Works in Causeway Bay District are undertaken by three contracts: a) Tunnel (Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Section) Contract (Contract No: HY/2009/15), b) Tunnel (Slip Road 8 Section) Contract (Contract No: HY/2010/08) and c) Tunnel Buildings, Systems and Fittings, and Works Associated with Tunnel Commissioning Contract (Contract No: HY/2011/08)


a) Tunnel (Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Section) (Contract No: HY/2009/15) 
This contract is for the construction of the tunnel sections underneath ex-Wan Chai Public Cargo Working Area, Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter and Cross Harbour Tunnel. The contract also includes the construction of a ventilation adit along the bottom part of the eastern breakwater of Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter. 

 

At the ex-Wan Chai Public Cargo Working Area, the tunnel construction was completed in end-March 2016 and the removal of the temporary reclaimation was completed in end-December 2016. The seabed concerned had been reinstated.

 

At the mined tunnel section underneath Cross Harbour Tunnel, the excavation works was completed in end-April 2015 and the construction of tunnel structure was completed in October 2015.  (More information...)

b) Tunnel (Slip Road 8 Section) (Contract No: HY/2010/08) 
This contract is for the construction of a 300-metre-long section of tunnel section under the seabed of Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter (CBTS) and a 150-meter-long slip road tunnel beneath the existing Victoria Park Road and the northern part of Victoria Park. (More information…)

c) Tunnel Buildings, Systems and Fittings, and Works Associated with Tunnel Commissioning (Contract No: HY/2011/08) 

This contract is for the construction of tunnel cladding works, installation of route-wide tunnel electrical and mechanical works as well as the traffic control and surveillance system. The contract scope also includes testing and commissioning works. (More information…)
